Salt Lake City , Utah, to Caldwell, Idaho
We had a 364 mile (586 km) journey today, about the same distance as Invercargill to Christchurch. It was fairly easy driving as it was flatish. We went over some passes, one at 5,600 ft (abt 1,700 m), but they weren't at the top of roads winding up a steep hill. Our view was mostly as below.
This image is on the interstate I-84, heading mostly northwest. There are two lanes going west and a very wide meridian, with two lanes going east. There wasn't a huge amount of traffic and, as we were traveling a mere 65-75 mph (105-120 kph), we hardly ever caught anyone. Out of the picture we sometimes saw mountain ranges and over to the northeast we could see the snow capped Rockies. Sometimes our view felt like being on top of the world and, with a little imagination, the earth and the sky above it seemed curved.
Tomorrow we head for Kennewick in Washington State. On the way we will cut through the northeaster corner of Oregon and spend some time at a centre learning about the Lewis and Clark Oregon Trail.
